Lisa Deneau is a professional photographer based in Brooklyn, New York.

Originally from Dayton, Ohio, she grew up surrounded by creativity—her mother a musician, her father an architect. Lisa earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in studio art from Indiana University before moving to New York City.

Today, through her business, Once Upon a Tail Photography, Lisa brings together her lifelong love of photography, art and animals. She specializes in expressive, personality‑filled portraits of dogs and the people who love them, as well as fine art photographs of swans that capture their quiet elegance and natural grace.

Her work reflects a deep appreciation for the beauty of animals and the emotional connection they share with people—an enduring harmony that echoes her passion for photography and design. One of Lisa’s dog portraits was honored as a finalist in the 2025 Museum of the Dog competition — a testament to her talent for capturing the unique and beautiful bond between dogs and their humans.
